My name is India Hutchison, and I’m thrilled to share my art with you. I’m a classically trained artist with roots in Florence, Italy, where I studied at Charles Cecil Studios under the guidance of a master in sight-size drawing and painting. The years I spent honing my craft there surrounded by incredible creatives left a lasting impact on me.

After a three-year pause to pursue a parallel career as a therapist, I’m back to painting and drawing with renewed excitement. My time away brought me a fresh perspective, allowing me to approach classical techniques with a looser, more expressive style. My work holds true to sight-size principles, creating compositions that make a powerful impression even from across the room, but I enjoy the energy and personality that come from bolder, freer brushstrokes. Capturing a likeness is not just about physical resemblance for me—it’s about conveying the spirit and personality of the subject.

Currently, I work from my home studio in Hackney Wick, London. Though I often work from photographs, I prefer to take my own whenever possible to capture the right depth and atmosphere for each piece. Every portrait I create is crafted with care and love, and it’s a joy to share them with you here.

Please take a look around, and feel free to reach out if you’re interested in a custom piece. Thank you for visiting!
